Okay so now
#Google
is saying that we'll be able to sideload apps in
#Android
using something called
#AdvancedFlow
.
This makes me feel a lot better about using it moving forward, but now I do wonder why they sort of pitched it as the end of sideloadiing.

Will
#LineageOS
and
#AOSP
be able to get around the new
#Android
certification feature that will be rolling out worldwide next year?

I have been watching this as well. I see GrapheneOS has partnered with Motorola for creating phones with GrapheneOS installed from the factory.
I am currently running IodeOS on a Pixel6a. But I'll want to upgrade soon. ( I really want that mobile desktop mode you can only get on Pixel 8 or higher)
One of my challenges is that my work will need me to carry a stock Android because of their communication channels. But as I move away from field work to desk work, I may be able to abandon that.

@christopher
I use a personal phone and a work phone, I highly recommend doing that.
My previous phone was a
#Google
#Pixel
with
#LineageOS
. Freakin' love it, but
#Google
broke
#RCS
support on custom ROMs, which kinda screwed up a relatively important group chat I was in (it got converted to an
#RCS
group chat once everyone in the group got
#RCS
phones), so when it broke, I went back to stock
#Android
.
Having
#RCS
support is pretty important to me, so for my phones I don't really plan on going back to
#LineageOS
anytime soon. Maybe if sideloading gets worse, more manufacturers will make their own spinoffs of
#Android
that retain both the
#RCS
and the sideloading features. I think internationally some phones have already been degoogled, although IDK how well they'd work with cell towers here in the
#USA
.

I did the dual phone for a long time. I already have 3 laptops and an iPad for work, another gadget was just too much. Plus carrying two phones around on weeks I'm on call wasn't much fun. But I understand where you're coming from.
I did see a project a while back that was going to implement RCS in custom ROMs, if I find it again, I'll share. Maybe I dreamt it. 🤷♂️
